CHAPTER FIVE

Raven and I walk back to the castle together. Once we arrive we go our separate ways. Raven goes in search of his father while I go look for Alina and bring her to my bedroom to tell her everything that happened today. As soon as I told her about the kiss and Raven’s promise to marry me two years from now she screamed so loud I thought guards would barge into my room thinking I was under attack.

I made her promise she wouldn’t say anything to anyone. Last thing I need is for a bunch of girls to hate me for having caught Raven’s attention. Especially since neither one of us is participating in this year’s Coming.

“Come on Lexi. I promise not to say anything to anyone, but you’ve got to tell me. How was the kiss?” I lay on my bed moving my teddy bear, my plush wolf and my lion as I need to get comfortable before we continue with this conversation. “It was incredible Alina. I never thought being that close to a guy could feel so right. But I’m afraid to believe that he will come back for me in two years. I mean a lot could happen before then. How about if he meets someone else before then?”

Alina stands from the chair were she sat then comes over and shakes me. “Now Lexi stop doubting yourself. From what we’ve heard about Raven he is true to his word and I am sure since he promised to come back for you he will.”

I cover my face with my hands as I can’t hide my goofy grin. “Oh God Alina. These will be the longest two years of my life!” She pats my back and smiles. “Yes, but remember, Vanessa will be leaving soon. That will help somewhat.”

“Princess Lexi. Her Highness wants you to join her in her parlor” one of the guards announces from outside my door and Alina and I get ready to leave my room. “Oh my God! What if Prince Raven already spoke to King Richard about his intention and they are talking to Queen Valeria already?” Alina squeals nearly leaving me deaf from one ear.

“Alina, I need you to control yourself and stop talking about this! Remember you promised.” She uses her fingers to draw an imaginary zipper over her lips before we leave my room.

Since I had already changed out of my pants and boots into a less formal dress I didn’t need to do anything about my clothes before joining my grandmother. As soon as I get there the guard outside the door opens it for me and sure enough inside of it I can see grandma, King Richard, Raven and Mr. Ferguson. What is he doing here?

I take a closer look at Mr. Ferguson and he’s no longer wearing the rags I normally see him around in. He’s actually wearing a general’s uniform. What in the world is going on here? Grandma must have notice my hesitation as she smiles and reaches for me.
